Antonio Valencia is making a claim for the right-back position

The 31 year old Ecuadorian player of Manchester United, Antonio Valencia has recently been on a sublime form as he wants to re-claim his spot in the right-back spot of the Premier League club.

Antonio Valencia played the entirety of Manchester United’s opening match of the season which was against Bournemouth and he did not disappoint in any way as he was one of the more active and threatening players in the team of Jose Mourinho during the 1rst half, he started losing his influence in the match in the 2nd half but nonetheless, Valencia made a very impressive performance, just how he has been doing in the past few weeks of pre-season.

Tim Fosu-Mensah and Matteo Darmian are a few of the other right-back options that Jose Mourinho has at his disposal but at the moment Antonio Valencia is doing far better than both of them .

Fosu-Mensah is still a young 18 year old player who certainly has a future with the club but needs time to develop before being placed in the battlefield while Darmian appears to have lost his confidence during the final stages of the 2015-16 season and the Italian defender is even being rumored of making a return back to Italy.

This gives Antonio Valencia the chance to showcase what he can do and with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, things can be even better for the Ecuadorian player as he can become an assist machine for Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic is a towering figure with a height of 6 feet and 5 inches, it’s hard for defenders to mark him down and stop him from receiving passes and this is good news for Valencia as he can just burst in the wings with his explosive pace and unleashes a cross that only Ibrahimovic can reach.

After going through a season where Valencia managed to make less than 15 appearances due to an injury, things are starting to look bright for the Ecuadorian player.
