West Ham interested in signing Lyon’s Rafael da Silva

The Premier League outfit West Ham United is reportedly interested in securing the services of the Brazilian player Rafael da Silva who is currently performing with Lyon in the French league, Ligue 1.

Rafael da Silva is a regular starter in Lyon and it’s fairly unlikely to believe that he is thinking about leaving the club that he joined back on August of 2015 and where the Brazilian performer has actually managed to make an impact.

The 25 year old defender used to perform for Manchester United for 7 seasons but he struggled trying to get consistent playing time in the main team and he later opted to make a switch to Lyon and things have been going significantly better for Rafael da Silva ever since he joined Lyon for a transfer fee of £2.5m

After Rafael da Silva officially completed his move to Lyon, the head coach of the club stated that it was a very important signing for him and his team as Hubert Fournier said: “We were following Rafael for a long time. He’s a very talented player and was much loved by the Manchester United fans. He’s an important reinforcement, especially given the busy schedule we will have from September onwards. His profile corresponds with Olympique Lyonnais’ attacking philosophy.”

The time that Rafael da Silva spent performing in the Premier League was not a very memorable one and making a return to the top tier English league is something that simply does not seem to be realistic, especially considering the fact that the Brazilian player has made his way into the main team of Lyon and has helped them in securing the 2nd spot of Ligue 1.

The head coach of West Ham United, SlavenBilic wants to solve issues that he has been experiencing on the right-back position of his squad and that’s why he started viewing Rafael da Silva as a possible summer reinforcement but it remains uncertain if the player would want to make a return to the Premier League after having struggled so much in the English league.
